About Derrick

Derrick Goff, vocal coach and pianist, is an alumnus of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and returned to the MET Music Staff in subsequent seasons. He has enjoyed many years of collaboration at Teatro Nuovo, a continuation of the young artist program of Bel Canto at Caramoor, where he serves as Associate Artistic Director and is resident as coach, chorus master, and Italian teacher.

As Deputy Executive Director and co-founder of Bel Canto Boot Camp with longtime collaborator Rachelle Jonck, Derrick has taught masterclasses and residencies at universities across the United States and in South Africa as well as launched an ongoing residency at Il Poggio Montecastelli in Tuscany. Rachelle and Derrick co-authored The Vaccai Project, a training manual for Italian style using the lens of the fifteen lessons of Nicola Vaccai. Now a non-profit organization, BCBC breaks the often prohibitive barriers of distance, cost, and time to train and empower singers and audiences alike by making online and in-person training available to all.

Derrick maintains a busy private coaching studio in New York City where he works with singers of many levels, from those still in the beginning of their studies to singers on the rosters of prominent international opera houses.

In addition to his work as a pianist, coach, and conductor, Derrick holds degrees in organ and voice from Westminster Choir College and is on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music and Minister of Music at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Ridgefield, Connecticut.
